Sexual Health Testing That Works

STIs have always been a problem in society. People have always liked exploring in a manner of speaking and are driven by hormones. While this was not an issue for many years, the rise of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) has meant that people need to be more careful when it comes to who they partner with. Unfortunately, things do happen that one can not foresee so Sexually Transmitted Infections are around and it is likely to stay that way so we need to take precautions.

Before the global economic downturn people were a lot more likely to have access to quality health care. This is not because the facilities no longer exist, but rather it is down to simple economics. If you are unable to afford a private clinic there is nothing that can be done about it unless your are lucky enough to live in a country like the UK with a free healthcare system. So how do you go about getting the best STI testing without breaking the bank or starving yourself for a month? Keep reading to find out how to stay healthy – both physically and financially.

Sexually Transmitted Infections in the United Kingdom

Young people (15-24) are most affected by STIs with as many as two thirds of the new cases that were reported in women were in the under 25’s age group in 2009. More than half of the new cases that were reported amongst men also fell into this age group during that particular year. Chlamyadia is the most common and pervasive sexual health problem in the United Kingdom with as many as 217570 new cases being reported in 2009 – 75% of these cases fell into the 15-24 age group. Genital Warts is also an enormous problem while Gonorrhoea has been developing a strong resistance to antibiotics making it difficult to cure.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the UK. One of the scary facts about Chlamydia is that it often does not produce symptoms so you may have it and not even know. The only way to be sure you don't have Chlamydia is to get tested. The most reliable form of testing is PCR and this is not usually the type of testing that you would get in a public hospital so you generally have to go private.

Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is the second most prevalent bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the UK. Gonorrhoea will normally produce symptoms in men (around 95% will experience urethral pain and discharge within 7 days). Around 50% of women will experience no symptoms. The scary aspect of Gonorrhoea is that it is developing resistance to many antibiotics. The recommended front line treatment is now an intramuscular injection of Ceftriaxone and a 1000 mg oral does of Azithromycin. You can read more about gonorrhoea antibiotic resistance at this helpful website.

Genital Warts

Genital warts are caused by two of the many Human Papilloma Viruses. The HPV that causes genital warts is not the same one that causes cervical cancer. If you think that you have genital warts then you need to get them diagnosed by a healthcare professional. There are a number of ways to treat genital warts but the most popular is a cream called Warticon. This is applied a few times a week for 4 weeks and this should eradicate the warts. This treatment is only suitable for small warts (no more than 4 mm diameter. You can get more information on genital warts from NetDoctor - a great online medical resource.

What All Of This Means for You....

The government and the National Health Service are interested in looking after you but can only do so much. The government and the health care professionals who work for them also understand that some tests are better off being done in the privacy of your own home which is why people can access free chlamydia testing via the post. Unfortunately, for wider screens you need to go to a clinic in person (rather awkward if you ask me) or go to a private clinic online – The STI Clinic is a good example of a private online clinic which can give you a wider screening. Another great thing about online clinics like The STI Clinic is that they can now offer you a lot more comprehensive screening through the post. These comprehensive screenings are totally legitimate and accurate. They are also a lot cheaper than going to a private clinic and seeing someone face to face. There are a wide variety of options and prices when it comes to comprehensive screens

So ultimately you have three choices – you can go to a public clinic and wait for hours, go online or pay through your nose and starve because you want to go to a private clinic. The problem with face to face clinics is that they are.. well, face to face. Perhaps you have a fear of doctors (the author only goes to the doctor when she is in the middle of a severe anxiety attack), work away from home most of the time or simply do not have the time to go to a clinic... Whatever your reasons for not wanting to do the face to face thing, the appeal of going online is undeniable. Getting tested is easy; just click here to get started.

Why Go Online?

The impact of the internet on our lives can’t be denied. We use it for communication, research, shopping and just about everything we do. There have even been memes about how the current generation would cope should the internet suddenly crash (hint, they would not survive a day in most cases).

Humour aside, the internet is fantastic because it allows you to do research from the comfort of your own home or while at work which is certainly a lot better than going to a clinic and dealing with rude staff who have a God complex. If you want to know more about STIs all you need to do is find the right information page. This website is non profit and is a great place to start.

The internet has been around for more than two decades and the time has come for us to start using it to our advantage – where better to start than here?

Hear it from them

I was almost giving up hope of ever bearing a child and I just couldn't take the pressure any longer. At my weakest moment, I consulted these experts and they gave me a whole new dimension of what I needed to do. If you are childless and you are out there, don't ever give up hope until you talk to these great people.
