Environment Agency
The Environment Agency is the leading public
body for protecting and improving the environment in England and
Wales. It provides services in the area of environmental
monitoring, control and protection with activities including
environmental modelling, air quality monitoring, waste management,
fisheries management, flood prevention and control, prevention of
pollution and risk reduction of water resources
The Environment Agency's priorities include:
- working with industry to protect the
environment and human health
- concentrating effort on higher risk
businesses - those that run potentially hazardous operations, or
whose performance isn't up to scratch
- helping business use resources more
efficiently - over half of the waste produced by business we
regulate is not being put to other uses, including recycling and
producing energy
- influencing and working with Government,
industry and local authorities to make the environment a
priority.
The Environment Agency's SW HQ is in Bristol, with research
facilities in Bath and Exeter, and other sites in Bridgewater,
Bodmin, Blandford Forum and Exminster.
