South West RDA Legacy
As part of our desire to ensure the region's economy is best
positioned for future growth, we have undertaken a significant
piece of work to capture the RDA’s legacy.
We have produced four documents as part of this legacy activity
drawing on colleagues’ professional experience, our corporate
research library, evaluation reports and a range of other published
material. We hope this will provide successor bodies and other
organisations with access to the wide range and depth of tacit and
other knowledge that has been developed as a result of 13 years
economic development work for the region.
An outline of the four documents follows, click on the covers to
download:
1. South West RDA’s
History
Includes key facts and figures about the RDA's
role in economic development and how this evolved over time.

2. The Economics Story
A strategic planning tool to assist with economic development and
to help put the regional economy in a global/national context. The
Economics & Evidence team have led on this, seeking input from
colleagues with specialist knowledge.

3. What We’ve Learnt
This document is based on the RDA’s extensive impact and evaluation
resources and will also draw on wider research and information
gathered from colleagues.

4. Economic Development
Manual
A toolkit setting out and signposting further
information on “how to do” economic development. The manual is
based on South West examples, but written for general
application.

Research, Evaluation and Analysis
In addition we are providing open source access to all of our
research, evaluation reports, economic
analysis, strategies and other documents related to our work
over our 13 years’ of operation.
