South West RDA in 2010/11 - and looking into
the future
With the South West RDA set to close by March 2012, our focus
now is to deliver an effective transfer of those elements of our
work that will continue and the orderly wind down of all other
business.
Here we review progress in 2010/11with some major areas of work
and, where appropriate, look at how these might continue in the
future under different ownership or management.
The year just finished - 2010/11 - was not only our last full
operational year but also our busiest. We were responsible for
investing £239 million into our regional economy, either through
our Single Programme resources or by managing the ERDF and RDPE
Programmes.
Major initiatives such as the National Composites Centre, the
Combined Universities in Cornwall and the aviation skills training
academy near Exeter are either nearly complete or already up and
running, along with a host of rural development, business growth
and local infrastructure investments designed to support economic
growth and opportunity across the region.
