Childlessness is not a sentence to hopelessness

Online Clinic Checks

We all know the importance of not only your own health, but of you having a healthy family; that is why it is getting more and more important that health care services are more easily accessible to anyone and everyone. We all have busy lives and hectic schedules so sometimes what is perceived as just a ten minute stop off at the doctors' surgery often doesn't even fit into our days. *

I mean, you have the travel time there and back (unless you are lucky enough to live right next door), you have the waiting time, which we all know is always (and I mean always) longer than expected; and then you have the trip to the pharmacy if it is needed, which incurs more waiting time. So when you think you can just pop to the doctor in your lunchtime, you are often met with an angry boss looking at his watch on your return! *

This is why more and more individuals are turning to the online clinic option, with access now via Facebook for some clinics like the one that we have highlighted. You can be 'seen' by a professional in the comfort of your own home, therefore avoiding taking more time out of your day, and you also avoid having to be surrounded by germs that are ever present in doctor’s surgeries. Many people feel nervous at talking to a doctor or nurse in person; for these people an online clinic is a great option. It is also there for those who are feeling too sick or in pain to leave the house to go to the doctors. * Read More...

HIV Infections on the Rise

The Overall Rise of HIV Infections in the UK

Did you know that there are nearly 110,000 people in the United Kingdom who are infected with HIV? This figure was recently released by Public Health England in preparation for the National HIV Testing Week. Sexually active men and women are constantly being reminded of the importance of testing for HIV and are being urged to get tested to ensure early diagnosis. This is simply due to the fact that early diagnosis enables better treatment outcomes and reduces the risk of further transmission. Additional figures from Public Health England do indicate that overall, more people are being diagnosed earlier, resulting in a decrease of the percentage of people diagnosed with a late stage of HIV.

HIV Diagnosis in Gay and Bisexual Men in the UK

The figures further revealed that there is a rise in the percentage of gay and bisexual men living with HIV. For example, one in every eight sexually active men is now infected with HIV. Below are a few reasons for HIV infections on the rise in gay and bisexual men: Read More...

Mysimba Approved in the EU

Health Risks of Being Obese

When a person’s body weight is greater than that which is considered healthy for his or her height, that person is considered to be overweight or obese. There are millions of people around that world who are suffering from being overweight or obese. The most common cause of obesity is the lack of energy balance. This simply means that the energy in does not equal to or is less than the energy out. Other causes of obesity include family history, environment, an inactive lifestyle and certain health conditions. Not only is obesity a cosmetic issue, it also puts you at risk for many other health problems including coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and cancer. It is therefore important that people try to live lives that are as healthy as possible so that they do not become obese and that those who are obese find healthy ways of losing weight.

What is Mysimba?

Studies have shown that the best way to lose weight is through a reduced-calorie diet and frequent physical activities. There are however certain substances that can enhance the weight loss process when used in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and frequent physical activities. Not all of these substances are healthy and have been approved so it is therefore necessary that you be careful when deciding which of these substances to use.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recently given its approval for the marketing of Mysimba to be used in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and frequent physical activity for weight management in adults that are obese or overweight. Mysimba is the new weight loss medication and is a combination of naltrexone and bupropion. It will only be available on a prescription basis to obese adults with a body mass index of 27 kg/m2 or greater and who are suffering from one or more health conditions resulting from them being overweight or obese. The two active ingredients of Mysimba affect two key areas in the brain that are responsible for controlling our body’s food intake and energy expenditure.  Read More...

Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea of the Throat

Chlamydia and Gonorrhea of the Throat

A lot of people give little to no importance to Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) even though they can have a huge impact on their sexual as well as their social life. Practicing safe sex can always ensure that you stay safe from STDs and STIs but people don’t take the necessary precautions and as a result, fall prey to infections like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

Both of these infections can be transmitted sexually and can have an extremely adverse impact on your sexual life. Since they can be passed upon to other people with whom you have sexual contact, it is important to get these infections diagnosed as much as possible. However, while tests are usually only done for finding the infection in the sexual organs, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can also affect the throat. It gets particularly difficult to diagnose the infections when they affect the throat as most tests don’t even take samples from the throat. As a result, people who have Chlamydia or gonorrhea of the throat might end up passing it on to others via oral sex.  A great amount of information available on the subject at healthcentre.orgRead More...

Informing Sexual Partners About STIs

Why are people still getting STIs and STDs?

Sexual transmitted diseases (STDs) and sexual transmitted infections (STIs) are still very common with people of all ages even with specific health classes and the many commercials about practicing safe sex. So why are there still many people getting infected? A big problem is the ignorance of people, being under the belief that they are immune and will not contract the disease. A lot of people make the mistake to get tested after practicing unsafe sex, usually when it is too late.

Outrage after women exposes STI on Social Media

the Daily Star coverage explains how a woman who contracted the disease got tested and told everyone through the social platform Snapchat. Although a very unconventional way to inform her peers and her previous sexual partners, she did the right thing by informing them to get tested too. People have commented on how shameless she is for doing that, but it is actually quite the opposite. It is easy to shoot down people who do certain things in an unusual way, but kudos to the woman who had the guts to display her infection for the world to see and to alarm others who had sexual intercourse for her.

First of all, let us give some common gonorrhoea information and chlamydia information to help you better understand these infections with their symptoms and consequences. Read More...

Hear it from them

I was almost giving up hope of ever bearing a child and I just couldn't take the pressure any longer. At my weakest moment, I consulted these experts and they gave me a whole new dimension of what I needed to do. If you are childless and you are out there, don't ever give up hope until you talk to these great people.
