Knowledge Transfer Networks

What are they?

A Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is a group of individuals that have a shared interest in an area of emerging technology. It provides an easy means of acquiring and sharing knowledge, and hence, participating in shaping the future of a strategically important technology in the UK.

KTNs have been set up and are funded by government, industry and academia. They bring together diverse organisations and provide activities and initiatives that promote the exchange of knowledge and the stimulation of innovation in these communities.  There are currently 25 KTNs with a membership of around 45,000. The newest KTNs are in Digital Communications, Creative Industries and Financial Services.

Who are they for?

Members of KTNs are usually individuals from business, research, or government organisations concerned with developing and expoiting a technology for the economic benefit of the UK.

How to access

Visit the KTN central website. You can register for membership of a KTN that interests you by visiting the homepage of that KTN and following the instructions. Each KTN manages its own applications.
