The South West Science and Industry Council

The South West Science and Industry Council exists to raise the economic success of industry and business in the South West region through a more effective use of science, technology and creativity.

The Council was established in 2005 as an independent advisory body to the South West RDA.  It is made up of science, business and academic leaders who are committed to using their personal knowledge and experience to inform investment and development in the South West. To get to know the Members of the Council, visit the Members page.

The Council’s objectives are:

  • To stimulate collaboration between universities and business as well as between businesses
  • To offer strategic guidance to organisations such as the South West RDA on potential investments
  • To encourage businesses to invest in science and technology
  • To represent the interests of the South West region both nationally and internationally
  • To create partnerships with other regions to enable better access for businesses to science and technology
